Jump came home with me yesterday morning. He spent most of the day curled up under my bed, but did come out a few times to have a cuddle and something to eat and drink. His wound is a little infected and he's on two different antibiotics to combat it; as a result of the infection his wound is oozing a little, and I'm keeping an eye on it and bathing it occasionally. He is also sporting a fashionable clear plastic collar around his neck to prevent him picking out his stitches. This makes his eating a little difficult, but once he gets the hang of it he manages sufficiently.
Late in the afternoon he must have started feeling a bit braver because he settled himself down on my bed and purred happily whenever I went into the room. Oscar and Zapp were relegated to the outdoors yesterday, and once they were inside and shut in their room for the night Jump came out and explored the house. He got tired pretty quickly and I ended up having to gently carry him back to my room and settle him in the box I had made up especially with comfortable towels and blankets. As soon as I got in to bed, however, Jump was up next to me and stayed there the whole night, waking occasionally to reposition himself.
He is now hiding in the wardrobe in the Babe's room, and seems happy to stay there for the day. I was hoping he'd be more relaxed and social today, but I guess it will take a little longer.
When I brought him home yesterday I was really unsure if I was doing the right thing. I didn't really know what his personality was like, or if he would fit in with the Babe and the other two feline menaces, but today I'm feeling more confident. He is very affectionate and smoochy, and I think once Oscar and Zapp accept that there's another cat in the house, he will fit in well here.
